Google Knowledge graph and SEO – Top 5 Things to watch

I just got done writing up an intro for some items to watch as Google moves forward with its newest “Knowledge Graph” AI upgrades. Ill just copy it here so you can read into what it holds in store and some items to watch.

Google Knowledge Graph And SEO

Posted on MAY 16, 2012 by JEROD

Today we had a huge revelation from Google in the search engine processes and how it will change the results you get. It has been a long time coming that G had a major overhaul in the social scene and this gets us closer to an attempt at strong AI. So lets start with a few terms.

Some Primer Terms To Know

Graph – It is a knowledge interrelationship map that is created based on multiple referential datagrams and based of other relationships.

Datagrams – How Google saves information from your website and refereneces it to make sense of what content on your page is about, how it is used, and what it’s importance is when Google decides to show you a search result.

SEO – Search engine Optimization – How Webmasters structure information on a page, in a websites, and reference it so as to attempt to produce a more favorable SERP.

SERP – The Search Engine Results Page is how you far in comparison for a term that is searched “keyword” in google’s search engine.

New Technology, New Segments

The new knowledge graph will be an additional window section, based on what they have showed in the preview, which will provide you with additional related information based on habits of those that have searched for the same terms before. It will also very likely be based off information that Google has collected relating to what you are searching about with a Cookie in a predictive fashion.

How Will It Be Rolled Out?

So what does this mean for you? Search is getting closer to being an AI based interaction much like what SIRI is on the new iPhone 4S. Something that is able to “parse” what you input is and instead of matching based on that keyword alone, help you by inferring what you might be after additionally looking for. The news that should be hitting webmasters over the head right now is the “inferring what else you might be after” portion. This is the essence of why it is becoming much more about how content is linked and the on-page structure of a website.

Things To Focus On For Search Professionals

It is still much to soon to start directing people to focus on how they can better attain a favorable SERP with these newest major overhauls in mind. As they start to roll these changes out over the next month keep a firm eye on these five items.

Five Keys To SEO And Google Knowledge Graph

  1. Which search keywords are triggering the “knowledge graph” to appear?
  2. What are the suggested items of interest for keywords you are interested in?
  3. How can you build a better relationship for your website based off item 2 if item 1 is affecting you?
  4. Is the knowledge graph being rolled out for more and more items over time?
  5. Will the new search have natural human input for the mobile android and iPhone/iPad based?
  6. How are social sites factoring into these key items? (okay 5 is not a lot and this is HUGE! news, so the sixth is on us)

Google Brings Us AI With Open Graph.

What can you do to better prepare for the effects that Googles newest search functions will give you? Well we always setup our clients with a monitoring and analytic package for both Google Analytics and Google Webmaster tools. No site should be without them, if you are then call us today and we will get you setup. It is always hard to make a move without baseline information to judge the end results effects against.

Final Thoughts On “Knowledge Graph”

Take a deep breath, and relax. We feel that you will be happy with a majority of the improvements that are made as a result of this upgrade. This is the opening salvo of computing technology and Artificial Intelligence merging to create ???

Game developers conference 2011

I’m excited to be at the tech hub of what’s next in leading edge entertainment and video game creation at this moment. Austin is really turning into a next silicon city and has seen some major players in the game and website development arena over he past couple years lodge here. It’s such a stark contrast to San Antonio and the lack of technology innovation from that local . I’m looking into three new technology engines hat promise to define he next big jumps in game realism and blur the different approaches to online game play.

One of the technologies I’m looking at is the unreal engine and it has been a standard in the industry for some tme now. Another

TweetAdder Review – 3 weeks later – Thousands of new friends

Tweetadder Review

Best Active Tweetadder Coupon Code: JER20 for 20%, they don’t offer a bigger discount currently but I will update if they do in the future. If you find my review helpful please use my link to checkout tweetadder so I can make a few bucks return for this in depth review. @jollymonsa

—————————————————————————————————————————

So the entire point of twitter marketing was honestly escaping me for quite some time. I really never even  bothered with twitter as it seemed to be much like a blog-roll of peoples thoughts moment by moment. I didn’t realize that actually, that’s the pure beauty of twitter. If someone is looking for something, needing something, afflicted by something, they will tweet it! I started looking at some of the possible things I could do a few weeks ago to increase traffic to my targeted websites and also to create very high rank back-links on the fly. I first saw tweet adder and reviewed their page and was confused a bit. I decided to look for other software that would be better and did a search of several web-based packages that use the twitter API to do similar things. Nothing good really existed so I decided to go ahead and get tweetadder as a trial. I knew right away that this tool was powerful but that it also was different, a bit complex, but would get the results I was after.

This is the main Tweetadder Interface here: Great Dashboard, gives me a quick glance and overview.

*NB*  Everything after this picture is for just one (of the 5) profiles I have running on this copy.

The main user interface for TweetAdder

My Criteria for a twitter adder tweeting automation software

  1. Be able to automatically search profiles and tweets by keywords and add those users that matched my criteria
  2. Be able to send out automatic, pre-written tweets and link to some various RSS feeds, Auto add followers and thank them message
  3. NOT GET ME BANNED ( I had been locked outta twitter once before for “aggressive adding” behavior) which was actually just like adding 300 ppl in one night
  4. Interlink multiple accounts and spread certain messages via RT
  5. Not break the bank

Tweetadder actually hit my 5 criteria excellently upon use, I was upfront not feeling great about the price point ( I knew I needed the unlimited right off the bat, and it is a bit expensive, more on this later)

1. Automatic Searches by profiles and tweets for users and then add them

I needed to have certain accounts for clients looking for certain people and then adding that person. Either via tweets that person had made or their profile info. Tweet adder as you can see from the picture below does this automatically and even has killer radius features and location features. Leave those blank for a larger audience in your search.

Tweet Search Feature: So many good functions, and automation too boot. Score 5+

Tweet Adder Search Function Explained

Profile Search Feature: Could use Automation but it nets results in the thousands so that honestly would clog your pipeline up, but THIS IS THE WAY TO GET STARTED with tweet adder on any new profile.

Tweet Adder Profile Search Function

2. Send out pre-defined tweets / Rss feeds/ Auto Follow and Un-follow / Auto Thank for following

This is a must for any software on Twitter, without these functions the first part of the software is incomplete and useless. I was actually surprised to find so many software packages out there that did not have these integrated!

Pre-Defined Tweets Interface: This is great, when coupled with the tweet generator thats built in (not pictured) its a killer combo :) 5+ My spelling in the picture, 3- :(

Tweet Adder Pre Defined Tweet Interface

Auto-following RSS feeds to spice up your syndication and tweets, built it.

Thanking Followers is a MUST and a good time to get out a website or FB link, they include this as well

Thank You and Direct Messaging, built into tweet adder

3. NO BANS

So twitter is hardcore on stopping people from using twitter for a lot of purposes, one of those is adding and unfollowing lots of people at any one time. This software has built in intervals and timers that make it seem like a human and I have yet to run into any problems with it getting banned. If you are starting out an account thats new, use lower values until you have a larger follow base. (twitter enforces ruffly a 10:1 following to follower ratio BTW)

Twitter Security and Settings Features: They have built in schedules for profile activation times and built-in PROXIES! Another 5+

tweet adder security proxy and settings overview

4. Interlink via RT multiple accounts

Simply use the RT or tweet from a follower list to create a tweetlink with multiple accounts (this has lost value for direct marketing to people on twitter but is still very valuable for creating lots and lots of high PR back-links to your website or blog that will get your SERPS (search engine results page) listings boosted higher. I didnt take a screen of it but its similar interface to the rest and is fully automated as well.

5. Not break the bank

So this is a huge consideration in our world and you have to get bang for the buck with software. I like tweetadder as its a piece of software I own and not a website service. It does not run on the constantly fluxing and unstable twitter API, it acts like a user. I like things that will not become obsolete :) If you have 1 twitter account then by all means just get a one seat license and save a bundle! If your like me and an active webmaster you need to get multiple most likely.

Also their price includes all future updates (in three weeks they have already released one :) This is better then anything else when you look at for twitter in a multi-year investment at any rate.

Conclusion (and coupon :)

I was nervous getting into the twitter arena, now I have this mastered! What is funny and ironic is that there is a very good chance you are reading this as a result of TweetAdder at work ;) I like results and this delivers on the two main fronts I cater to. First it creates an enormous amount of backlinks of high quality to your site (social media links are valuable in case you didn’t know also) Second, and mainly for clients of mine, it gets their twitter account on focus and niche directed and specific. Offering things that are relevant, timely and desired. A rare combo in this world. Could it have a lower price point for the unlimited version? Yes but your paying for professional developers and this is a professional product, if not the Cadillac of twitter software. If you found my review helpful please use my link to checkout tweetadder so I can make a few bucks return for this in depth review.

Dislocation of IP and On-page Optimization, SERP strategies that get you rank

So I had a lot of work I had put into some sites that got great rank on their own, and I was super pleased when I launched my own website development company, SanAntonioWebsiteDesign.NET and later website hosting company, HostingSanAntonio.com, to provide my own backlinks for some PR juice share. Well things don’t work like 2008 anymore, and this is actually a good thing! If you noticed during 2009 late in the year your SERP’s (search engine result page, like what you see) got pretty jammed up with crap crap crap. This is due to some great technology that “internet marketers” invented to spin and gin content and complete sites auto-magically. Well Google writes like several hundred changes to its search algorithms per year but it took a fairly large change, which de-ranked a lot of content horde sites like huffpo ect, to get the crap flushed to the wayside. Think of “Internet Marketers” like a bacterial infection, they are good if kept in check with some other organismic bacteria or yogurt or something of the sorts. HOWEVER they multiply like wildfire if they find something that is ahead of googlies curve (these guys are better then good, the best of them make seven+ figures a month) Anyrate….

So Google wrote the prescription to solve a lot of those problems with a few interesting changes.

1. IP server location linking indexation - They now have your n-grams for your nameservers/IP/subnets/and those items in historical context. The usefullness of NS fixation is limited to large scale cases due to servers (guh, you gotta have NS’s) needing NS’s! but the IP addressing issue does exist.

EXAMPLE: What they would expect to see is like this (NS1234.fatcathost.com , ns777.fatcathost.com, ns5321.fatcathost.com) on your different nameservers. If you have all hosts in a circle on ns1.fatcathost.com, ns2.fatcathost.com then you are the same person in that link structure.

SOLUTION: Avoid similar NS hosting patterns on the same subclass C blocks….. so ns1.fatcathost.com=22.33.44.55 ns2.fatcathost.com=22.33.49.55 Not the third octets change, this is why. It is time consuming and you have to buy out dedicated IP blocks but the results are there. (or simply use the link below to setup a hostgator VPs and buy up dedicated IPS and thank me later. I get affiliate $$ off your Hostgator purchase when you use my code and I will continue to spread these nuggets of wisdom): Coupon Code RESELLER2GATOR Saves 25% off for any time period term (like I bought mine for 2 years)

2. Second Item to take into account is that you MUST MUST MUST GeoLocation your domains, meta, H1′s, Bolds and everything else in you on-page structure. Now combine these two time consuming items and you have some rank regained. Oh and BTW don’t bother with switching up old domains and content, they have had  your sites server and domain history since January 2011…Big Google=Big Brother? sure but then again that’s what its taking to keep spam hell from being unleashed onto thy search results.

******IF YOU DON’T ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO ONPAGE STRUCTURES, DONT TRY TO FIGURE OUT ON YOUR OWN!!!! It will take you forever and get you no-place very very very slowly. Use the same tool I use on every project that keeps me on task (the checklists this tool generates are like ungodly large and absolutely critical) Use Internet Business Promoter standard, no need to get the pro unless your an SEO expert that does nothing but this every day all day. (which you are not, or else you would have already stopped reading back at point 2, which you of course know)

If this all seems over your head feel free to contact me to help get your SEO straight, SEO gets done right at San Antonio Web Design

Until next time, -J

nextGEN gallery for WordPress – How to Upload and Update the Gallery with New Images

Hey Guys I did a short bit on how to update the awesome wordpress image gallery plugin, nextGEN. Check it out if you use wordpress, its a great plugin.

-Jolly

Abandon Attracta – SEO on your own for better PR and Juice

I don’t like attracta for a few quick reasons. I’m off their services and noticing page gains already.

- They limit links to 1000 for submission to the big 4. Thats great but no tool to manage what is linked in your xml intelligently. FAIL!

- If you have a CMS like joomla or wordpress, DONT DO IT! They will index every crapping article link to modules, junk, and non published junk. It will really negativly impact your score and people will be like …WHAT? in the SERPies. MAJOR FAIL!

  • N.B. If you have a joomla or wordpress website use ACESEF or YOAST for your SEO, remove yourself from attracta by sending support an email asking for removal. Impliment and spend 2-3 hours with either of these tools and you will be golden. Make sure to sign into google webmaster tools, link account to website, and then submit your cleaned and perfect sitemap there.
  • That’s two major fails and exactly why you should seriously think twice before jumping on the Attracta bandwagon. It’s simple….too simple. In SEO for any niche, 1 FAIL is too many.

    Godaddy.com $1 domain name coupon – Jillian1

While I would stay far away from the hosting, godaddy does have good deals on domains. Here is a code that can save you a bunch. Jillian1 for a dollar domain name. Sweet

Hostgator Coupons for VPS and Resellers

So I am one of those people that needs a few hundred domain names and several servers each month so I will post here some of the codes that I find that are working for Hostgator, Godaddy, and Dedicated Servers.

    Hosting Coupons

Recent Hostgator Coupons – Please read my post on why you should NOT use GODADDY for hosting!

Checkout the differences and then either use the coupon code below or click the link to signup, make sure to double check before you get past payment page cause every one of these coupons will save you so much more then the coupon they give you on their site. Plus you can lock in the % off with these codes for however many months.

    **********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Half off Level 1 VPS Coupon – vps2hostgator Save an extra $6.00 off their standard coupon

I got started with this a few months back and needed to really up my skills with shell and linux, before I started migrating domains over. This is an awesome VPS to use, even on level 1 its capable of pulling a X-desktop with VNC and is very fast. They are on some MAJOR backbones (they actually are housed in The Planets, Dallas) which means you get AAA lines for wholesale prices and get great pings and very knowledgeable and helpful techs.

Reseller With CPANEL – reseller2gator Save an extra 25% off and you can lock that in for up to 2 years! (read advice below)

So having a reseller account is something I have setup for several of my clients that wanted to have a hosting company, and Hostgator is my main goto for this also (I prefer them for everything but domains, high spec VPS’s and dedicateds) So here is my advice on reseller buying with anyone. Signup for the lowest plan, Aluminum, and enter in my code above reseller2gator. This one is way better then their standard code SPRING. Lock in that price for 6 months (if its your first time setting up a hosting reselling plan) or longer if you know what your in after. Then if your bumping the overage limits (unlikely) send their sales an email message and ask for another discount when you move-up to the next level. If they say no send me a message, but so far they always seem to say yes.

Shared Hosting with private SSL & 800 number – business2gator Save a permanent 25% off for any number of years.

I love having a private SSL setup for me (instead of the usual headache. I have unlimited domains, emails, databases, space, bw and I use it to the hilt! I keep my business account open for the economy of it all. A private SSL costs 20 per year minimum and that is with you spending an hour at least setting it up. LET THEM DO IT! Oh and please feel free to give me a buzz at my 877-753-0505 and let me know how you like this deal!!!! 100 free minutes per month and this has helped give me so much more professional polish. Plus its like cheaper then my telco for additional minutes like 4 Cents vs 23 Cents. This coupon works for all of their plans, but I would recommend going with the hatchling or business, the baby is for only one domain.

Why you should NOT use GODADDY for hosting

When it comes to hosting providers, it is a completely different game then domain names. I use godaddy.com for all my domain names as they are cost effective and easy to administer from their control panel. However most people make the mistake of choosing them to also provide their hosting. Here are a few reasons why you do not want to make this mistake.

    1. Godaddy.com has one of the worst, most unfriendly, unintuitive user control panels ever conceived. It’s as if they took some designers, monkeys, and put them all in a room together. They had the UI designers go over and over the creation process with the monkeys until finally they came up with an interface that is sure to drive you BANANAS!
    2. Godaddy only piles a few thousand other websites onto your hosting account. Sure that doesn’t sound like many… wait it does! Never get a host with that many websites being hosted off one server. Go to whois.sc and run a domain query on a godaddy hosted site. My current clients sharing space with 1,718 other souls. Oh dear….
    3. They have a “special” version of php, which of course for you and your website scripts means “special” things. What kind of special things? Special things like setting on the phone for hours with clueless techs who trying to figure out why your php script wont connect. “Special” things like contact forms not working. Sound like a blast? It can be yours for a low low low low, super low price today!
    4. The price is low low low low, super low, but only a few dollars lower then an actual bonafide true hosting provider. I’m talking a 2 bucks/mo. here folks. Look to the right, they rock and are 2 bucks more per month. Oh and you get true technicians on the other end of the online chat or phone. I have had hundreds of questions for hostgator, they have provided hundreds of solutions. I have had hundreds of questions for godaddy, they usually disconnect while transferring me from person to person.
    5. Your database got dumped. Sorry. Godaddy has another “special” setup for your database. Its offsite and outta their mind. So guess what happens when it gets dropped? You got it sparky! All that hard work, sweat, and money of yours also just got dumped. If you go with them and you get dumped on, your going to feel pretty…well….you get the idea.
    6. If you are having a website built for you, DON’T scrimp on the hosting provider. Seriously, $24 a year more is nothing. Backups, Real Linux and Windows Technicians, An easy to use hosting panel…the list goes on and on.
    7. Think what time it’s taken for me to write this article? I have been on hold with godaddy this ENTIRE TIME! I even just told them I’m writing this article and that they should link it on their corporate blog.

I don’t like to have my time wasted and you don’t either, so get a real host and save yourself a headache sooner or later. You know thats what those lines coming off the godaddy logo guy really are right? Steam.
